InMode QuantumRF Skin Tightening in Huntington Beach, CA

InMode QuantumRF is a minimally invasive skin tightening treatment that delivers radiofrequency energy beneath the skin rather than through its surface. It is designed for people with mild to moderate loose or crepey skin, on the neck, jawline and lower face or on the body, who want visible tightening without the incisions and downtime of a surgical lift.

At Tran Plastic Surgery in Huntington Beach, QuantumRF is offered under the care of Dr. Tuan Tran, who is triple board-certified in plastic surgery, hand surgery and reconstructive surgery. As a surgeon who also performs facelifts, neck lifts and body lifts, Dr. Tran can tell you honestly whether QuantumRF will meet your goals or whether a surgical option would serve you better.

QuantumRF at a glance

  • Treats: mild to moderate skin laxity of the face, neck and body, and small pockets of stubborn fat
  • Technique: subdermal radiofrequency through tiny entry points; no surgical incisions
  • Anesthesia: local numbing
  • Treatment time: typically about 30 to 75 minutes, depending on the number and size of areas
  • Downtime: most people return to normal daily activities within a day or two
  • Results: develop gradually over about three to six months as collagen remodels

What Is QuantumRF?

QuantumRF is a handpiece on InMode’s IgniteRF platform. Instead of heating the skin from the outside, it uses a thin cannula placed under the skin through a tiny entry point. The cannula delivers controlled bipolar radiofrequency energy to the layer just beneath the skin, where the fibrous connective tissue that supports the skin, called the fibroseptal network, sits.

Heating this layer causes the soft tissue to contract, which tightens loose skin from underneath. Over the following months, the body also produces new collagen in the treated area, so the skin continues to firm gradually. Because the energy also affects fat in the treatment zone, QuantumRF can refine small areas of stubborn fullness, such as under the chin, at the same time.

The QuantumRF handpiece is FDA-cleared for dermatologic procedures that require coagulation or contraction of soft tissue. Two sizes are available: a smaller one for detailed areas such as the neck, jawline and jowls, and a larger one for broader body areas.

Areas QuantumRF Can Treat

Face and Neck

  • Jowls and a softening jawline
  • Loose skin and fullness under the chin
  • Early neck laxity and crepey neck skin
  • Mild heaviness of the lower face

Body

  • Upper arms with mild loose or crepey skin
  • Abdomen and flanks, including mild laxity after pregnancy
  • Inner thighs and above the knees
  • Bra-line and back fullness
  • Mild loose skin after weight loss, including weight loss with GLP-1 medications

Who Is a Good Candidate?

You may be a good candidate for QuantumRF if you:

  • Have mild to moderate loose or crepey skin that has not improved with skin care or surface treatments
  • Want noticeable tightening but are not ready for, or prefer to avoid, a surgical lift
  • Are at a stable weight and in good general health
  • Have realistic expectations about gradual, natural-looking change

When surgery is the better choice: QuantumRF tightens skin, but it cannot remove a large amount of loose, hanging skin. If the skin folds or hangs, a surgical procedure such as a neck lift, facelift, brachioplasty (arm lift), thighplasty (thigh lift) or tummy tuck is what actually removes it. Dr. Tran will tell you which category you fall into at your consultation.

QuantumRF vs. RF Microneedling vs. Surgery

These treatments work at different depths and suit different degrees of laxity. Many patients benefit from more than one, planned in the right order.

RF microneedling QuantumRF Surgical lift
Where it works Skin surface and dermis Beneath the skin, in the supporting tissue Removes excess skin and repositions deeper tissue
Best for Texture, fine lines, acne scars, mild laxity Mild to moderate loose or crepey skin Moderate to severe loose or hanging skin
Anesthesia Topical numbing Local numbing Local with sedation, or general
Incisions None Tiny entry points only Yes, with a permanent scar
Typical downtime A few days of redness A day or two; swelling and bruising may last longer One to several weeks

What to Expect

Your Consultation

Dr. Tran examines the areas that concern you, assesses skin quality and how much laxity is present, and reviews your health history and medications. If QuantumRF is a good fit, you receive a treatment plan and a written, itemized quote. If another option would serve you better, he will say so.

Treatment Day

The treatment area is cleansed and marked, and local anesthetic is used to numb it. Through one or more tiny entry points, the cannula is guided beneath the skin and moved methodically through the area while the energy is delivered under temperature monitoring. Most patients feel pressure and warmth rather than pain. Depending on the area, you may go home with a compression garment or chin strap.

Recovery and Results

  • First few days: swelling, tenderness and a feeling of tightness are normal. The small entry points close quickly.
  • First one to two weeks: bruising, if any, usually fades within about seven to ten days. Most people are back to work and normal routines within a day or two; strenuous exercise waits until Dr. Tran clears you.
  • First weeks: some tightening may be noticeable as swelling settles.
  • Three to six months: collagen remodeling continues and the result keeps developing, with gradual improvement for up to a year.

Many patients need a single treatment. Some benefit from an additional session, spaced several weeks apart, and Dr. Tran will tell you at your consultation whether that is likely for you. Results are long-lasting, though the skin continues to age naturally, so healthy habits, sun protection and maintenance skin care help preserve them.

Risks and Safety

QuantumRF is minimally invasive, but it is still a medical procedure. Common, temporary effects include swelling, bruising, tenderness, numbness and firmness in the treated area. Less common risks include contour irregularities, prolonged swelling, infection at an entry point, nerve irritation and heat injury to the skin. Careful patient selection, temperature-controlled energy delivery and following your aftercare instructions all help reduce these risks. Dr. Tran reviews every risk that applies to you at your consultation.

Cost and Your Consultation

The cost of QuantumRF depends on how many areas are treated and how large they are. Rather than quote a figure before seeing you, we provide a written, itemized quote at your consultation, so you know exactly what is included. QuantumRF is a cosmetic treatment and is not covered by insurance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does QuantumRF hurt?

The area is numbed with local anesthetic before treatment, so most patients feel pressure and warmth rather than pain. Some tenderness and tightness for a few days afterward is normal.

How is QuantumRF different from Morpheus8 or other RF microneedling?

RF microneedling delivers energy through the skin surface to improve texture, fine lines and mild laxity. QuantumRF works beneath the skin in the supporting connective tissue, so it targets looser skin. The two can be combined in a treatment plan.

Is QuantumRF a replacement for a facelift or neck lift?

Not for everyone. QuantumRF is designed for mild to moderate laxity. When skin hangs or folds, only surgery can remove the excess. For the right candidate it can delay or avoid surgery, and Dr. Tran will tell you honestly which approach fits.

Can QuantumRF help loose skin after Ozempic or other weight loss?

It can help when the loose skin is mild to moderate and your weight is stable. Significant hanging skin after major weight loss usually needs a surgical procedure such as an arm lift, thigh lift or tummy tuck.

When will I see results?

Some tightening may be visible once the initial swelling settles. Most of the improvement develops over about three to six months as new collagen forms, and it can keep improving for up to a year.

Will I have scars?

QuantumRF uses only tiny entry points rather than surgical incisions. They usually heal to small marks that are difficult to see.
